Looking to move abroad?
Malta has once again been ranked as one of the best countries in the world for expats to live in. The survey, called Expat Insider, is the world’s largest expatriate survey.
It was conducted for the third consecutive year by InterNations. A total of 14,000 respondents from 191 countries, representing 174 nationalities were asked questions about their general living situation when living abroad.
Interestingly, the details of the survey show Malta ranking high in many of the categories. Results show that out of 191 countries, expats lead the happiest relationships in Malta. Furthermore, Malta ranked 6th in the quality of medical care, and 1st again in the best climate and weather.
Malta also ranked among the top countries worldwide in the affordability and availability of real estate; placing 6th in availability and 9th in affordability of housing.
InterNations explains the overall ranking process and states that ‘For the country ranking, survey participants were asked to rate 43 different aspects of life abroad on a scale of one to seven. The rating process emphasized the respondents’ personal satisfaction with these aspects and considered both emotional topics such as the friendliness of the local population as well as more factual aspects (e.g. affordability of healthcare) with equal weight.’
Malta ranked second overall in this survey, surpassed only by Taiwan. This clearly shows that expatriates moving to Malta are extremely happy with the quality of life.
